About Us

Kelchner Brewery is co-owned by Chris and his wife Marisa. they purchased the brewery in February 2018.

Marisa Kirchner,

Joint Owner

Marisa is a pharmacy professional originally from South Africa and was first introduced to Real Ales by Chris. She immediately appreciated the complex combination of hop aromas and malty tastes the ales offered.

Marisa’s pharmacy background provided her with the knowledge of the chemistry and manufacturing process for making beer.

Outside of her brewery adventures, Marisa enjoys gardening, the outdoors and visiting her family in South Africa.

chris kelly,

Joint Owner

Chris’ is a project manager and these skills have helped to transform the brewery into a viable operation.  A key aim when purchasing the brewery was to work with local community and environmental organisations, to ensure continued success for them and the brewery.

When not at the brewery, Chris loves to run, cycle and spend his time outdoors, come sun, wind or rain. Chris is also an avid Luton Town fan, hence the orange in the logo.

Sustainability

Protecting the environment is at the forefront of our minds, so at Kelchner we are committed to recycling and reducing landfill waste. We’re continually reviewing our processes to ensure as a business, we operate with the minimum carbon footprint as is possible.

IT ALL GOES TO THE REYCYCLING CENTRE

We recycle everything. Whether it’s the packaging of some of our ingredients, or the recycling of spent hops as compost – nothing goes to waste as part of our brewing process.

the greensand Country

Greensand Country is an island of distinctive, beautiful and loved countryside, based on a band of higher ground stretching from Leighton Buzzard to Gamlingay, rising out of the surrounding clay vales. It is a great place for visitors!

Here at Kelchner we are proud to be in the heart of the Greensand Country.
